It's funny and a pity.
The question is why Hinduism should be targeted? I was born as a Hindu. And I think I’m putting up with this for the 100th time. And I’ll write it 10000 times until everyone understands the ills of the supposed religion Hinduism or 'a way of living', as we like to call it!
It's very essential to discuss caste in this discourse. Because, the whole point of the Dravidian movement was to unveil the mask of Hindu religion, which constructively fortified the caste system from the clutches of change, by the names of spirituality, socio-political conduct of Hindu society.
Historically, it is not Hinduism, but Brahminism. This has to reiterated again. BRAHMINISM. It’s entry into India dates back to 1500 B.C. when the much debated race of Aryans entered India. Who are Aryans? Aryans are nomadic people of Central Asia from around the Steppes Grassland. Their primary occupation and source of livelihood is Pasturalization. This group from the Steppes, migrated to three different locations - Scandinavian region, Germany and Persian peninsula, reaching India. Initially they settled in Indus river basin and named it as Brahma Varta (present day Pakistan and Punjab), then moved to Gangetic basin (UP, Bihar). Being pastorals, these river basins, which were run by perenial rivers, had rich fertile soils making their settlement a comfortable one. Their initial plan, as historical studies show, was to settle down in the Chinese region, but due to the rise and influence of Iron in India, it paved way for them as agriculturists in this very regions.
These Aryans divided the then Indus society into three Aryans (the winning nobles within the Aryans), Dasyus (the Indigenous tribes of the region or of the people who today form the Dravidians, the exodus of the Dravidians from the Indus to the Southern part of India is an another chapter) and Dasas (the defeated Aryans among the Aryans).
This classification, secondly led to the introduction of the four Varnas. A system which divided the society into five.
The four fold Varna as we know includes – Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. And the fifth, which doesn’t come under Varna they are Avarnas/Panchamas, or the so called Untouchables.
We do know what and who the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas are and that the Shudras did the assistive works for the 3 higher varnas and other menial jobs, whereas the Avarnas, were panchamas. Who were not allowed in the domain of the four varnic society and were always kept isolated.
Even today, a casual visit to any village in India, you can see the division of the upper town and the lower town. In the modern times, termed as Colonies. So “Idhellam Andha Kaalam / Ippo Laam Yaaru Sir Jaadhi Paakura” can be very well kept out of arguments! If this sounds surprising or unusual, I urge you to take a tour and visit any one village, just outside of 20kms Chennai circle. If any of you justifies and proves that there is no caste system in a, or your village, or your friend's village, please share the details so that I can send it to Rashtrapathi Bhavan, for which the village will be awarded.
And if you still think the caste system in Hinduism doesn’t exist here, will you marry a person outside your caste in an arranged marriage set up? Will your family choose to go with such a custom? When that cannot happen, the question of marriage of you and a Dalit girl or boy is totally out of bounds, I feel, and out of which heinous 'honor killings' crimes happen.
Mocking Pillaiyar, or asking to prove that the God exists, are just means to attack the fort called Hinduism, which comfortable deifies and protects Castes and the Caste system. In a battle, you could kill the Captain of a warship by directly killing him, or by trying to sink the warship itself. Collateral damage? The parable of fairness in love and war? Anyone?
So, why are we criticizing only Hinduism and why not other religion? I agree to the fact that even Muslims, Christians are also split, but even then why targeting Hinduism is essential, for a society that we think is necessary?
Yes, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism every Religion is divided and split. Who splits them? The Christians, the Musalman, the Buddhist does that, but does their Religion promote that as a fundamental inherent principle, like Hinduism does? Show me a word on Sects/Castes/Divisions in Quran, Bible or from the Dhammas of Buddha! Split in these religion are manmade! They are explicit. It's like a King who has to rule his people, chooses to rule by oppression. Oppression is also a method of rule, so does that count to you all as "Monarchy is bad" or will you chose to say that "This king is a bad ruler", apply your brains.
Hinduism, and the so called Vedas that pillar it, are the base and source of Hinduism, or I should say Brahminism, these vedas promote separatism and inequalities, division, discrimination among humans. Even the epics like Mahabharatha and Ramayana has spoken about Varna system and essentially uphold the sanctity of such criminal institutions. And I am sure you guys, who are not Brahmins here, know not one mantra from those vedas, do you? You were just kept under its arms, without even knowing what it propagates, and today you defend it, while you all are safely behind castes that come under a higher sect. Just to educate you all, try and refer RIG VEDA 10th MANDAL- PURUSHA SHUKTHA poem! And read the punishments given based on Varnas in the Manusmriti! If this was an ancient times, and if this comment is read by someone from the higher varnas, and if I were a Shudra or a Avarna, I would be killed. Welcome to reality.
